Michael Cera Biography

Michael Cera

Name: Michael Cera
Profession: Actor, Musician
Birth Date: June 7, 1988
Height: 5' 10"

Michael Cera is a native of Canada, born on June 7, 1988 in Brampton, Ontario. His father, Luigi, comes from Sicily, Italy and his mother, Linda, comes from Montreal, Quebec. Cera has two siblings, an older sister Jordan and a younger sister, Molly. He attended Heart Lake Secondary School.

Cera started in commercials at age nine and began his acting career in 1998, when he got a voice acting role for "Rolie Polie Olie." Since then he has been in other television projects such as "La Femme Nikita," "Braceface," "Doc," and "The Berenstain Bears." He has also appeared in several movies such as "Steal This Movie," "Frequency," and "Ultimate G's."

Cera landed his first major break with the role of George Michael Bluth on the Fox sitcom "Arrested Development." Despite critical acclaim, the series was cancelled after three seasons.

In late 2006, Cera created and starred in a parody of the YouTube video "Impossible is Nothing," a video résumé created by Aleksey Vayner. He also guest-starred in an episode of teen noir drama "Veronica Mars," and also in the Adult Swim series "Tom Goes to the Mayor" and "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!"

Cera, along with Clark Duke, wrote and starred in a series of short videos released on their Web site. In 2007, they signed a deal with CBS Television to write, produce, direct, and act in a short-form comedy series entitled "Clark and Michael." The show featured guest stars such as David Cross, Andy Richter and Patton Oswalt, and was distributed via CBS's new Internet channel, Innertube.

There was also a comedy video circulating that showed Cera being fired from the "Knocked Up" film set. It was set up to show Cera being the original star of the film, belittling and arguing with director Judd Apatow, who then storms off of the set in a scene that mocks the David O. Russell blow up on the set of "I Heart Huckabees." This was only a staged clip from a featurette on the "Knocked Up" DVD.

In 2007, Cera starred alongside Jonah Hill in the hit movie "Superbad," which was written by fellow Canadians, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film was semi-autobiographical, with Cera playing a character named Evan. He then starred in another hit film "Juno," which was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman. Cera was joined in the film by fellow "Arrested Development" star Jason Bateman.

Cera also has an interest in music, playing in a band called The Long Goodbye with Clark Duke and Christian Buenaventura.
